US approval for Bayer's Ilevo seed treatment
Bayer CropScience has received US approval for its seed treatment, Ilevo (fluopyram), use on soybeans. It is the first such product for the control of soil-borne sudden death syndrome (Fusarium virguliforme) and also has activity against nematodes in the root zone, Bayer points out. The company applied for approval earlier this year. Ilevo will be available for the 2015 growing season. The combination of Ilevo and Poncho/Votivo (clothianidin + Bacillus firmus) provides "unmatched root and plant protection" against early-season fungus, insects and nematodes, Bayer states. The company introduced its fluopyram-based Luna family of products for use on a wide range of crops in the US in 2012.
