Australia to OK Dow's Arylex
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the approval of Dow AgroSciences' herbicide, halauxifen-methyl (trade-marked as Arylex), as a new active ingredient. It has also proposed the registration of the end-use product, GF-2685 (halauxifen-methyl 10% + cloquintocet-mexyl safener 10%), for the control of broadleaf weeds in wheat and barley. It is a water-dispersible granule formulation. The company submitted its application through a global joint review process by the authorities in Australia, Canada and the US. It received Canadian approval for two herbicides based on halauxifen-methyl this year and a US registration decision is scheduled before the end of the year. The first approval for halauxifen-methyl came in China. The Australian registration decision is open to public comment until January 27th 2015.
