Applicants withdraw EU ai approval resubmissions

Three re-submissions for EU approval of active ingredients have been withdrawn by the applicants. The applications for the insecticides, cadusafos and carbofuran, and for the herbicide, sodium chlorate, have been withdrawn by their notifiers, an EU regulatory committee spokesperson confirmed to Agrow. FMC originally resubmitted its applications for cadusafos ( Agrow No 547, p 11) and carbofuran ( Agrow No 546, p 11) in 2008 after the EU authorities decided not to re-register them in 2007 ( Agrow No 523, p 6). The European Food Safety Authority’s peer reviews of the cadusafos and carbofuran resubmissions identified a need for more data on residues and other information. The re-application for sodium chlorate had been submitted by CEFIC last year ( Agrow No 574, p 14) after the ai failed to gain re-registration in 2008.
