Australia starts drift reviews
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is to review the phenoxy herbicide, MCPA, as the first pesticide to be examined under its new programme to examine risks posed by spray drift. Preliminary assessments indicate that restrictions on MCPA use will be required to protect non-target crops and terrestrial and aquatic organisms from drift, the APVMA points out. The review will cover 139 products containing MCPA. It is open to public submissions until May 28th.
