US company settles misbranding claims

The US agrochemical company, Albaugh (Ankenny, Iowa), has agreed to pay a $27,360 civil penalty to settle allegations over the import of nearly 1,000 tonnes of misbranded 2,4-D herbicide. Six shipments, comprising 1,026 bags, were considered to be misbranded because they did not have the required labelling, including directions for safe use, the EPA points out. Albaugh was ordered to hold the material until it was relabelled with the correct information.
