Mixed residue findings in California
No pesticides were detected in 73.4% of the 3,429 samples of more than 180 fresh commodities tested in California in 2009. That compares with 70.2% in the previous year ( Agrow No 568, p 16). However, the proportion of samples with illegal residues jumped from 1.1% to 2.4%, according to the latest figures from the California EPA Department of Pesticide Regulation. Residues within tolerances were detected in 24.2% of samples (28.7% in 2008).
