Brazil sugar cane area rises
The Brazilian area for sugar cane planting is expected to rise by 9.2% to 8.1 million ha, according to this year’s first official estimates. The Ministry of Agriculture’s supplies agency, the Conab, carried out its first survey between late March and mid-April. Sugar cane planting continues to expand in Brazil, the agency says. The major expansions are expected in the states of Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goias and Minas Gerais. The Conab views the sector scenario as positive.
