EU updates labelling requirements for intermediates

New EU rules have updated labelling requirements for substances covered by the EU Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation, which includes agrochemical intermediates and co-formulants. The new rules cover safety data sheets and bring them into line with the requirements of the UN globally harmonised system (GHS) of classification and labelling of chemicals. REACH came into force in 2008 ( Agrow No 541, p 10). In the same year, the EU agreed to implement the GHS ( Agrow No 558, p 9). The GHS deadlines to complete the reclassification and labelling are December 1st 2010 for substances and June 1st 2015 for mixtures.
