US firm settles over 2,4-D misbranding

The US agrochemical company, PBI-Gordon (Kansas City, Missouri), has agreed to pay a $6,000 civil penalty to settle allegations over the import of more than 147 tonnes of misbranded 2,4-D herbicide from Argentina in June 2009. The 152 bags of 2,4-D acid were considered to be misbranded because they did not have the required labelling, including directions for safe use and handling. US agrochemical company Albaugh recently settled over similar allegations of misbranding 2,4-D ( Agrow No 591, p 19).
