Canadian approval for BASF's Caramba

BASF has received Canadian approval for the fungicide, Caramba (Kureha’s metconazole), for use on wheat, barley, oats and rye. The product is particularly effective against head blight ( Fusarium graminearum), while also providing foliar disease control, BASF points out. The company received US approval for Caramba on wheat in 2008. BASF has exclusive rights to foliar uses of metconazole in North America on small-grain cereals, soybeans, sugar beet and cotton ( Agrow No 511, p 19).
