Brazil new minor crop rules to stimulate agchem industry
The new pesticide registration rules covering minor crops are an encouragement to pesticide manufacturers in Brazil, agronomist Ossir Gorenstein says. He is from the Ministry of Agriculture’s agricultural warehouse network, the Ceagesp. Brazil set new regulations in February paving the way for an extension of pesticide registrations to use on minor crops ( Agrow No 587, p 20). The regulation allows farmer co-operatives and companies that register pesticides to request a product’s use extension to crops such as cucumbers, lettuces, peppers and passion fruit.
