BASF gets Canadian extension for Headline
BASF has received Canadian approval for use of its fungicide, Headline (pyraclostrobin), for application on sunflowers against sunflower rust ( Puccinia helianthi). It is recommended for application prior to disease development at 0.4 litre/ha. Early infection of sunflower rust can reduce yields by 25% to 50%, BASF says. It cites a Manitoba disease survey, which found rust to be present in 74% of surveyed fields in 2008. BASF received full approval for Headline in 2008 ( Agrow No 558, p 23).
