EU recognises complete dossier for penthiopyrad
DuPont’s application for EU approval of the broad-spectrum fungicide, penthiopyrad, has been recognised as complete by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health. This is an early stage in the EU registration process. In addition to the EU, DuPont has applied for US and Canadian approvals for use on fruit, vegetables and arable crops ( Agrow No 584, p 19). The company licensed penthiopyrad from Mitsui Chemicals in 2007 for sale in the EU, the Americas and Australasia. Mitsui received the first approvals for the active ingredient in Japan in 2008 ( Agrow No 550, p 22).
