Australia OKs Bayer's GM brassica tests

The Australian Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) has concluded that Bayer CropScience’s planned field tests of genetically modified herbicide-tolerant canola and Indian mustard pose negligible risks to human health or the environment. The company is seeking to test the crops, together with a hybrid breeding system, on up to 126 ha over 21 sites between January 2011 and February 2014 ( Agrow No 592, p 24). The OGTR’s risk assessment and risk management plan is open to public comment until August 24th.
