Brazil draft bill on agchem waste rules
A joint meeting of four Brazilian Senate commissions has approved rules to enforce the treatment of solid waste including that of agrochemicals. It authorised a draft bill to create the “national solid residues policy”. The draft requires the approval of the full Senate. One provision would establish that reusable solid residues are “of sound economic and social value, generating employment, income while empowering citizens”, official news agency Agencia Brasil reports. The disposal of such waste would be banned from locations such as beaches, and water courses.
