Brazil sets new fruit fly controls

Brazil has set new regulations governing phytosanitary procedures for fruit flies in mangos. At least two of four measures must be adopted by mango growers. The measures include the registration of farms and farmers, carrying out pest control monitoring, securing certificates of origin, and applying hydrothermal treatment of the crop. Farmers must present formal applications to federal authorities. The new measures have come in response to the demands of exporters.
