Brazil extends acephate control of palm borers
Brazilian has extended use approvals for the insecticide, acephate, by one year on African palms. The emergency extension comes in response to concerns of farmers for control of palm borers ( Eupalamides dedalus) and the lack of alternative registered pesticides, the Ministry of Agriculture says. Palm borers cause significant harm to oil palm crops, it adds. Any registered manufacturers and formulator would have to supply complementary data.
