US non-payment approval cancellations
The US EPA is cancelling 337 pesticide registrations because of the non-payment of annual maintenance fees that were due on January 15th 2010. The routine cancellations affect 309 federal (FIFRA section 3) registrations and 28 special local need (section 24c) approvals. Maintenance fees were paid for 16,377 section 3 registrations, representing about 97% of those on file in December 2009. Fees were paid for 2,301 section 24c approvals, or about 95% of those on file. The EPA is authorised to collect $22 million in maintenance fees in fiscal 2010 (ending September 30th).
