Sumitomo to tackle illegal dimefluthrin in China

Sumitomo Chemical and its Chinese subsidiary, Sumitomo Chemical Shanghai, and the Shanghai Leezhao Law Office, are to take legal action against any company or individual found to be illegally manufacturing, selling or importing unregistered versions of the pyrethroid insecticide, dimefluthrin, in China. The announcement, issued by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture’s Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, follows the discovery of unregistered dimefluthrin spreading in the Chinese market. Sumitomo Chemical is the only company to have registered dimefluthrin in China. The 2008 registration of dimefluthrin (95%) is valid until 2013.
