<p> Syngenta Agrisure GT to include drought tolerance </p>
Syngenta’s new drought tolerance maize technology, Agrisure Artesian, will be incorporated into its genetically modified maize lines, Agrisure GT (glyphosate-tolerant) and Agrisure 3000GT (glyphosate and glufosinate-tolerant, and insect-resistant). It plans a commercial release in 2011. Agrisure Artesian technology was developed using molecular breeding techniques and offers a 15% yield advantage under drought conditions, the company says. It is also developing hybrid maize lines incorporating a transgenic water efficiency trait, which it anticipates will be available to growers after 2015, pending regulatory approval.
