Brazil agchem sector to boom on export crops
The Brazilian pesticide sector is bullish on its near and medium-term future because of the international demands for Brazilian produce. National television channel Canal Rural interviewed Ivan Sampaio, the market information chief at agrochemical industry trade association, the Sindag, last month. He noted that some 80% of sales of pesticides in Brazil are for use on the principle export crops. Those crops are: soybeans, which account for 47% of the agrochemical market; maize (11%); sugar cane (9%); cotton (7%); and coffee (4%).
