Spain grants Spexit 120-day approval
Spain has granted a 120-day emergency authorisation for Swiss company Andermatt Biocontrol’s viral insecticide, Spexit ( Spodoptera exiguanuclear polyhedrosis virus). It is for the control of beet armyworms ( Sexigua) on greenhouse peppers. The larvicide combines highly specific insect control with non-toxicity on the environment, the company says. The product will “significantly contribute to a sustainable and efficient control of a key pest” for the crop, it adds. Spanish company Agrichem Bio (Madriid) will distribute Spexit in Spain.
