EFSA seeks views on agchem exposure in soil
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has issued draft guidance on assessing the exposure of soil organisms to agrochemicals. It covers the evaluation and use of results from field persistence and soil accumulation experiments. The aim is to update the existing document, which does not have exposure scenarios for the wide range of climatic conditions in Europe, the EFSA notes. EU member states had raised concerns over the need for more information during the EU review of existing active ingredients, it adds. Comments are requested by October 4th 2010 on the draft guidance, which is on the EFSA website at: http://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/consultations/call/ppr100720.htm.
