Pasteuria nematicide OK'd for US strawberries
The US biopesticide company, Pasteuria Bioscience (Alachua, Florida), has received US approval for a liquid formulation of its Pasteuria usgae-based nematicide for use on strawberries and turf. It is the first food-use product approval for the company. Pasteuria introduced a dry formulation of P usgae, Econem, for the control of sting nematodes ( Belonolaimus longicaudatus) in turf this year ( Agrow No 593, p 4). The approval on strawberries opens the way for use on further food crops, Pasteuria points out.
