Successful launch year for Kixor in US

BASF’s multi-crop herbicide, saflufenacil (trade-marked as Kixor), was applied to more than 10 million acres (4 million ha) during its first year on the US market. That makes it the largest new herbicide launch in the last 20 years, the company claims. BASF received US approval for saflufenacil in September 2009 and launched it for the 2010 season under four brand names, Sharpen, OpTill, Integrity and Treevix, for various uses ( Agrow No 576, p 23). The herbicide is ideal for the control of weeds with resistance to glyphosate, triazines or acetolactate synthase inhibitors, BASF says.
