French GM grapevine trials destroyed again
Field trials of genetically modified fanleaf virus-resistant grapevine rootstock have been destroyed for the second time within a year in France. The trials were being conducted at Colmar in the Haut-Rhin principality by the French national institute for agricultural research, the INRA. A group of 60 anti-GMO activists entered the field and destroyed 70 vines planted there. A similar act of vandalism occurred at the site last year ( Agrow No 576, p 12) and new trials were approved in May ( Agrow No 592, p 15).
