US propetamphos cancellation requested
The US pest control company, Wellmark International (Schaumberg, Illinois), has requested the cancellation of the registration of the organophosphate insecticide, propetamphos. The only end-use product, Zoecon 9001 EW, is approved as a non-residential indoor crack and crevice treatment for pests such as ants and cockroaches. The EPA began a registration review for propetamphos in 2008 ( Agrow No 547, p 15). Wellmark is seeking the cancellation of the active ingredient approval from September 30th 2010 and the product approval from March 30th 2012. Product stocks could be sold and used until exhausted.
