Turkey issues GMO regulations

Turkey has issued regulations on the commercial use of genetically modified crops, the Turkish newspaper, Hurriyet Daily News, reports. The Ministry of Agriculture rules will come into force under the Biosafety Law and replace all existing legislation on the issue on September 26th, the paper adds. The legislation covers: GMO sales, imports and exports; decisions after the evaluation process; the monitoring and control of commercialised products; marketing procedures; the protection of human and animal health; and safeguarding biodiversity.
