US EPA to trial web-based labelling
The US EPA is to run a pilot study to assess pesticide users’ acceptance of internet-distributed labelling. It has invited interested parties to develop a website from which users could access mock pesticide labelling to try out the system. Users would be able to specify where a product was to be used and on what crop. The EPA believes that “web-distributed labelling” has the potential to improve compliance with label instructions by limiting them to a particular use and significantly reducing the amount of unrelated directions. The Agency aims to have the pilot websites ready to test by October 15th.
