Resmethrin product cancellations in US
A total of 27 companies have requested the cancellation of US registrations for all products based on the pyrethroid insecticide, resmethrin. They are used to control pests in residential and commercial settings. The requests are due to the pending cancellation of the active ingredient, the EPA notes. Syngenta and Valent BioSciences had previously determined that the cost of fulfilling data requirements was not warranted by the size of the mosquito control market and requested cancellation of that use ( Agrow No 592, p 18). Registrants would be able to sell and distribute resmethrin-based products until December 31st 2012. Use would continue until stocks are exhausted.
