EU extends approvals for three new ais
EU member states have been allowed to extend provisional approvals to August 31st 2012 for products based on three new active ingredients: Koppert’s fungicides, potassium iodide and potassium thiocyanate; and BioNext’s biofungicide, Candida oleophila strain O. The European Commission has confirmed the two-year extension after clearance from the EU regulatory committee in July ( Agrow No 596, p 7). Provisional approvals normally last for three years. However, more time is needed to complete the EU registration process because further information was requested from the applicants, says the Commission. Koppert originally submitted its two applications for EU approval to the Netherlands, as rapporteur member state, in September 2004, while BioNext applied to the UK in July 2006.
