Australian locust biopesticide shortage
The Australian Plague Locust Commission has warned of shortages of Becker Underwood’s locust biopesticide, GreenGuard ( Metarhizium anisopliae var acridum), as the country faces a major outbreak of the pest. The shortage has been caused by a contamination problem during production, the APLC points out. It has resulted in a delay of up to eight weeks in filling orders placed by the APLC and state authorities. They are working together to manage stocks to ensure that the product is available for use in high-risk priority areas, the APLC notes.
