Bayer signs oilseeds research deal with China
Bayer CropScience and the Chinese Oil Crops Research Institute (OCRI - Wuhan, Hubei Province) have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at increasing oil yields and resistance to fungal diseases caused by Sclerotinia spp in oilseed rape. The organisations will use molecular breeding or genetic engineering to “better protect and further enhance the oilseed crop”. Further details of the collaboration were not disclosed. OCRI is an affiliate of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with which Bayer signed a co-operation framework in 2008 ( Agrow No 555, p 31).
