Study negates harm to ladybirds by Bt maize

Ladybirds ( Adalia bipunctata) are not harmed by genetically modified insect-resistant Bt maize, concludes a new study from researchers at the ART Research Station (Zurich, Switzerland). This contradicts results from another, much criticised, study published in 2008, which was among the studies cited by the German government as justification for the imposition last year of a national ban on the cultivation of GM maize ( Agrow No 566, p 13).
