Brazil to up agchem container recycling records
The collection and reuse of empty pesticide containers continues to rise in Brazil. The pesticide container disposal organisation, the inPev, reports that almost 94% of all such containers were sent for recycling in the first half of 2010. That amounted to a rise of 19% in such collections compared with the first half of last year to 16,837.8 tonnes. In one state, Rondovia, collections rose almost four-fold, while 16 states saw increases in collections. The inPev has since reported that initial estimates point to over 22,000 tonnes having been collected by the end of August, a rise of almost 14% on the same period in 2009. Collections in Brazil last year totalled some 28,000 tonnes, a global record level, according to national administrators.
