Argentine pesticide ads to warn on unsafe use

All advertising on pesticides in Argentina is to include a warning on the dangers from misuse of products. Joint resolutions from the Ministries of Agriculture and Health impose rules covering agricultural and domestic pesticides in all media from print to audiovisual. The warning is to be in a clearly visible place and take up a defined area of the screen or literature. It is to have specific wording: “Danger: Incorrect use can provoke harm to health and danger to the environment, read the label carefully”. The aim is to limit the risks to human health and the environment from the incorrect application of pesticides, and to raise public awareness on correct use, the national animal and plant health inspection service, the Senasa, says.
