EU spirotetramat provisional approvals to be extended
The EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health has voted to allow EU member states to extend national provisional approvals for Bayer CropScience’s new insecticide, spirotetramat. The active ingredient’s first EU approval was in Austria in 2008, as Movento, and it is also approved in the UK for use on lettuces and brassicas ( Agrow No 576, p 23). Provisional approvals are granted before an ai has completed the full EU registration process. They normally last three years, but can be extended for up to two years if more time is needed to complete the process for listing the ai on Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414).
