Argentine bill to ban aerial sprays
An Argentine national parliamentary committee is mulling a proposed ban on the aerial application of pesticides. National MP Cecilia Merchán has submitted a draft bill seeking the total prohibition of aerial spraying of pesticides, and restrictions on terrestrial applications. The bill calls for a minimum application distance of 1 km from urban areas, according to the national newspaper, La Nación. The committee met in public. “Aerial applications have become a major concern among rural populations, and we have decided to face up to it,” Ms Merchán says.
