BASF/Embrapa to launch GM soybeans in 2012
The first Brazilian-developed genetically modified crop is to be launched for the 2012/13 season. The GM imidazolinone herbicide-tolerant soybeans were jointly developed by BASF and the Brazilian agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa. The two have agreed a “protocol of intentions” along with the Brazilian seed supplier association, the Abrasem. The products are to be marketed as Cultivance technology.
