Midwest Oilseeds/Cellectis in meganuclease deal

French genomics company Cellectis’ US subsidiary, Cellectis Plant Sciences (Saint Paul, Minnesota), has agreed a licensing deal with Stine Seed’s subsidiary, Midwest Oilseeds (Adel, Iowa), for its Aerosol Beam Injector (ABI) meganuclease technology. ABI allows functional meganucleases to be delivered directly into plant cells, thus avoiding the need for DNA vectors or the integration of foreign DNA. Midwest Oilseeds specialises in the improvement of soybean genetics. Cellectis has also licensed its meganuclease technology to other seed companies, including BASF, Bayer CropScience, DuPont subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Limagrain and Monsanto ( Agrow passim).
