New Zealand restricts methyl bromide

The New Zealand Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA) has confirmed its earlier recommendation to ban imports of the fumigant, methyl bromide, except for quarantine and pre-shipment use. Import approvals for two methyl bromide/chloropicrin formulations for soil fumigation will be revoked, with any existing stocks to be disposed of by January 1st 2011. The move was proposed in late 2009 ( Agrow No 581, p 20).
