Agchem container recycling up 19% in Chile
The collection or recycling of empty plastic pesticide containers in Chile rose by 18.7% to 178 tonnes in 2009, according to the Chilean agrochemical association, the AFIPA. They dipped in 2008 in a more subdued pesticide market, while last year’s figure represents a new record. The AFIPA’s recycling programme started in 2001, when just 13 tonnes were recycled. It has risen every year since except for 2008. The figures include only containers collected by AFIPA’s programme members.
