Syngenta to add Brazilian agchem supply hub
Syngenta is to open a distribution centre for its agrochemical business in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It has acquired the largest space at the under-construction “industrial district” in Carazinho municipality, which should be finished in February 2011, newspaper Correio do Povo reports. Syngenta has supplied pesticides to the state’s farmers from its base in Sao Paulo state. Operations manager José Edson de Carvalho says that the company’s customers will be able to keep lower stocks. “Delivery times will fall from three days to one, as the distance covered from source to farmer will be around 1,000 km down on the present,” he explains.
