GMO test methods issued by EU JRC
The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) has issued a compendium listing 79 reference methods for analysis of genetically modified organisms. The list represents the technical state-of-the-art in GMO detection methods, the JRC says. Most of the methods were developed by the biotechnology industry and have been validated by the EU Reference Laboratory for Genetically Modified Food and Feed according to international standards. They will be used by EU member states to organise official controls on GMOs.
