EFSA works on guidance for agchem dietary risks
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is to improve the clarity of its draft guidance on methods to assess dietary exposure to pesticide residues, in the light of comments received on the document. The guidance proposes a method for performing probabilistic exposure assessments as a potential additional tool to the deterministic methods currently used. The EFSA sought comments on the draft guidance earlier this year ( Agrow No 587, p 14). Some respondents called for more practical and prescriptive guidance. The EFSA will consider improving information on procedures, but says it will not be possible to be very prescriptive as it must offer some flexibility to assessors. Another public consultation will be held next year.
