EU commits to more action on bee health
Revisions to data requirements for EU agrochemical approvals will seek to enhance the protection of honeybees, the European Commission says. The revisions are under way as part of the implementation of the new EU agrochemical registration Regulation (1107/2009). The Commission’s comments come in a new report outlining all the measures being taken to safeguard bee health. It follows a call from the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee last year for more action to tackle the decline in bee populations, including further studies on the possible impact of pesticides ( Agrow No 603, p 11).
