Chinese pesticide plant blast injures seven
An explosion at a pesticide plant in east China's Shandong province injured seven people earlier this month, reports China’s state news service, Xinhua. The blast occurred at Chinese pesticide company Shandong Zhongshi Chemical’s manufacturing plant in Liaocheng. More than 8,000 residents were evacuated after the blast, local authorities say. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but preliminary indications are that the explosion was triggered by a fire that started in oil contained in a tank at the site. Shandong Zhongshi Chemical has six domestic herbicide registrations for acetochlor, metolachlor, alachlor, pretilachlor, butachlor and glufosinate-ammonium.
