Agriphar to acquire Laboratorios-Alcotán
Belgian agrochemical company Agriphar (Ougrée) will be signing an agreement on February 1st to acquire the Spanish agrochemical distributor, Laboratorios-Alcotán (Seville). The Spanish company has an ISO 9002 certified repackaging and formulation facility and the acquisition will strengthen Agriphar’s position around the Mediterranean region, it says. Agriphar acquired Italian agrochemical company Terranalisi in 2008 ( Agrow No 553, p 2), and Greek company Geopharm in 2010 ( Agrow No 586, p 3). The Spanish acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of March and Laboratorios-Alcotán’s management will retain their positions after the closing. Agriphar employs more than 200 people and has a turnover of over €110 million ($150 million).
