Canadian pesticide collection

Farmers in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador disposed of just over 2 tonnes of unwanted or obsolete pesticides in a collection scheme operated by the agrochemical industry’s CleanFarms group in October 2010. The collection was co-sponsored by the provincial government. The CleanFarms scheme was set up in early 2010 ( Agrow No 585, p 17). The first collection of unwanted pesticides in Newfoundland took place in 2002 and yielded more than 1.6 tonnes.
