DuPont gains US OK for maize herbicide

DuPont has received US approval for a new maize herbicide based on two established active ingredients. Realm Q (rimsulfuron 7.5% + Syngenta’s mesotrione 31.3% + Bayer CropScience’s isoxadifen-ethyl safener) is a post-emergence product with contact and residual action against a range of grass and broadleaf weeds. It is a water-dispersible granule formulation for use at 4 oz/acre (0.3 kg/ha). Syngenta granted DuPont rights to use mesotrione in combination products in 2008 ( Agrow No 546, p 1). Bayer and DuPont settled a legal dispute over DuPont’s use of isoxadifen in 2009 ( Agrow No 571, p 2)
